Mental health stigma and limited access to culturally competent care pose significant challenges for the Bangladeshi diaspora in Scarborough, Canada. This session, in collaboration with Bangladeshi-Canadian Community Services (BCS), aims to bridge this gap by fostering mental health awareness and encouraging help-seeking behaviours.

The initiative targets both youth and adults, providing culturally tailored education and resources to address the unique struggles faced by immigrants. These include systemic barriers, cultural differences, and stressors related to migration. By creating a supportive, interactive environment, the session seeks to normalize conversations around mental health, reduce stigma, and empower participants to take actionable steps toward better mental well-being.

The program promises a lasting impact on the Bangladeshi-Canadian community through engaging activities, practical toolkits, and community storytelling.

In collaboration with It's Humanity Foundation, the Amar Bag initiative focuses on enhancing menstrual health in Nilphamari, Rangpur. Through the distribution of menstrual hygiene dignity kits and educational workshops, the project promotes hygiene awareness and challenges menstruation-related taboos.

The initiative is designed to support women and girls in maintaining sanitation and hygiene, particularly during emergencies and crises. The bags contain personal care items such as sanitary products, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, detergent, and towels. The workshops aim to equip participants with vital menstrual health knowledge, fostering empowerment and awareness.

By combining practical aid with education, the project supports climate-vulnerable communities, combats stigma, and promotes dignity and equity for women and girls.
