  • Tashfia's Legacy

    The amount raised supported 50 students from underprivileged families of tala Upazila of Satkhira districts. Two schools were chosen to be a part of these projects. They are Samakal Madhyamik Bidyapith and Shishutirtho School. The selected students received two sets of school uniforms, a tuition fee for six months, teaching materials for six months and a school bag. The project also organised 5 sessions with the parents of dropout school students and community people.

    In order to support rural smallholders in increasing their food production, we conducted a thorough needs assessment to identify the most suitable villages for our assistance. We then provided 25 rural smallholders with Seed Planting Kits and care packages containing Maize, Rice, and Vegetables to help boost their production.

    The Tackling Hunger and Together for Humanity projects made a positive impact in the lives of 400 families by providing care packages that included necessities such as rice, lentils, potatoes, oil, poultry and vegetables. We also provided direct cash transfers to help families manage the economic slump caused by the pandemic and the global increase in food prices.

  • Rohingya Aid-in-Shelter

    BacharLorai ensured that those who found shelter after fire breakout in Balukhali Refugee Camp in Ukhia, had the necessary items to live their lives with some sense of normalcy. BacharLorai provided non-food essential items to 35 families. The package included items such as a bucket, cooking pots, dining plates, water glasses and jug, and clothing for men and women.

    Cornell BSA, BEACON & #BacharLorai raised funds for the laid off RMG workers duing COVID19. #PAYUP movement distributed food relief packages, including masks and soap, to 703 affected families.

    The project also touched the lives of certain minority populations including Adivasis in the Bandarban Hill Tracts and supported a few localities surrounding Dhaka city where 450 families of mainly rickshaw pullers and domestic workers.

  • Emergency Response - Cyclone Amphan

    #BacharLorai Movement (2020)

    Provided emergency aid to 535 families fighting Cyclone Amphan in the most heavily affected areas. This constituted 7 communities from Koira, Satkhira, Patuakhali, Bagerhat and Barguna – areas highly susceptible to the dangers of COVID-19. The project activities included establishing 27 latrines and disinfecting, dewatering and cleaning 2 ponds for 70+ families and a water retention tank of 4000 litres for 3 families to harvest rainwater. In addition, 2 wards in healthcare centers were restrored.

  • Preserving Culture with Eye Care

    #BacharLorai Movement (2021-22)

    Shatranji, a traditional craft recognized with a Geographical Indication status, relies on the skills of women weavers. Our two-day free eye camp in Shatranji Palli and Bhaktipur villages in Rangpur, Bangladesh was to aid the eye health of women weavers and their families by providing free eye exams, eye drops, and prescriptions, as well as arranging transportation and lodging.

    750+ healthcare workers in 4 healthcare centers of 4 districts received 5,000+ meals throughout Ramadan. Each meal included motivational public health messaging in an effort to reinforce mental well-being and communicate solidarity during the difficult time of COVID219.

  • Rohingya Aid

    Delivered 10 hospital beds to 2 Rohingya camps. 4 oxygen cylinder units were distributed to RTM International’s Clinic - this supported the setting up of a COVID Isolation Ward at the Ukhia camp.
